This May will be my 3rd year exhibiting at SURTEX® and although it does get easier to prepare each time I exhibit, there's always still a ton of prep work to be done before showtime! Creating new art, figuring out how my booth layout and visual displays will look, booking flights, lodging accommodations and of course getting the word out and letting folks know that I will be exhibiting. Right now, it seems as if my To Do List is rolling right off the table! And at the top of that list is... How do I stand out from the crowd? Make an impact? Get noticed?

Coming up with ways to attract attention while executing them well can be time consuming, costly and at times down right stressful! But by partnering up with a fellow exhibiting artist, I've found that you can build an affiliation of sorts as well as a support system to help achieve your show objectives. I have teamed up with fellow artist and booth neighbor, Megan Halsey, and the both of us have been able to join forces with our postcard mail-outs, public relations promotions, and advertise in outlets that were out of our individual budgets all the while building and complimenting up each other’s talents.

Last year Megan and I introduced and hosted The Sweet Spot. An intimate function during the show to entice prospective clients to our booths for some good art, nice conversation and some really sweet prizes! This created an opportunity for Megan and I to chit chat with some potential, new and current clients who may not have lingered or ventured in our part of the SURTEX neighborhood. We also generated some really good buzz about our little event too! The Sweet Spot gave me further opportunity to reach out and connect with prospective clients when it came time to thank, notify and send out the raffle prizes.

I'm happy to say that we will be hosting The Sweet Spot again this year! So come by the intersection of booths 649 & 650 and grab yourself a little treat!
