Pink Light Studio has been researching the runways, home décor and the gift industry for the key trends for 2014! To be successful in licensing, make sure to not only KNOW the trends, but also SET the trends, and also find fun and interesting ways to translate key trends into your artwork. Pink Light Studio would like to share just a few of the key trends for 2014 with you!

1/ Go Geo!
We have been seeing geos as strong patterns for a few years, and they are not stopping! Think bold black and white mixed with pop colors! Use basic shapes such as circles, squares, diamonds and lines to create modern and unique geo patterns! The scale is also getting larger for this trend. Stripes, checks and plaids are all over the runways!

2/ Create Collages!
We are noticing some really unique designs in fashion that look like patchwork and collaged prints. The designs on fabric can be either sewn together from different prints, or the prints themselves can look like they are a few different prints in one. The print inspiration can range from Asian inspired to Bohemian prints to abstract painterly looks-it’s all about how you mix your patterns together for this unique trend!

3/ Bohemian!
Long, flowing dresses are returning to fashion and therefore, the fashion industry will need a lot of gorgeous, over-scaled prints! Think textured flowers with a soft feeling, botanicals, watercolor effects, romance inspired, and feathers!

4/ Color Trends:
All shades of green (and Emerald, of course), mixed with earthy aquamarine blue tones.
Black and white with pops of red
Rainbow palettes

Pink Light artists will be busy designing for SURTEX and I’m sure you will be too! Have fun and we look forward to seeing you in May!
