SURTEX® Tutors Exhibitors in Six-Part Series of Free Webinars

WHITE PLAINS, NY, OCT. 18, 2011 – Exhibitors at SURTEX 2012 can learn everything they’ve ever wanted to know about the art licensing industry and its only North American marketplace in a series of six free, hour-long webinars set for the months leading up to the show, May 20-22.

Penny Sikalis, GLM VP/SURTEX show manager who announced the webinars this week, described the series as “Chock-full of information designed to assist exhibitors in pre-show preparations and help to maximize their ROI.”

Presenters are top experts in the art licensing industry and veteran operations managers experienced in the logistics of setting up display booths at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, site of the show. Each webinar will be held from 12 to1 p.m., and includes time for follow-up questions and answers, Sikalis pointed out. Webinar attendees will also receive a hard copy of the presentation. The programs are exclusive to SURTEX exhibitors (exhibitor registration begins November 1 at SURTEX.com).

December 7, 2011, the series opens with “Getting Started in Art Licensing,” presented by Tara Reed, well-known licensed artist and industry communicator who created the popular Website ARTLicensinginfo.com. Designed for artists new to the art licensing industry, Reed’s webinar will demystify the terminology of art licensing, analyze the nature of licensees and their needs, and advise beginners on how to successfully create, present, and promote their art for licensing.

January 18, 2012: “Marketing to Maximize Your SURTEX Success” will be presented by Tara Reed and Stephanie Leon-Santiago, GLM Exhibitor Marketing Manager. Aimed at all artists, designers and agents exhibiting at SURTEX, their webinar will suggest marketing strategies that can be set in motion well before the actual show, including the many avenues of marketing exposure provided by SURTEX itself.

February 8, 2012: “Operations Basics – Logistics for a Smooth Move-In and Set-Up” will feature experts Mike Edson, SURTEX Operations Manager, and John Kelly, SURTEX Sales Manager. They will cover shipping and move-in, electrical, labor, and furnishings guidelines, as well as detailed specifications of the SURTEX booth package. Condensed into an hour, the webinar is designed to provide the essentials needed for a smooth move-in and set-up – in a user-friendly format.

February 22, 2012: “Getting Started in Art Licensing” by Tara Reed, will replay the webinar for artists and designers new to the licensing industry.

March 7, 2012: “How to Find, Interact & Work With Manufacturers” will be presented by Tara Reed and Penny Sikalis, GLM VP/SURTEX show manager. They will analyze the types of manufacturers who license and/or buy art and suggest ways to, first, attract their attention and then develop those relationships into lucrative partnerships. The webinar will also help exhibitors understand the different product categories using surface design and choose those that best fit their artwork.

March 28, 2012: “Operations Basics.” GLM experts Mike Edson and John Kelly will again present their “Logistics for a Smooth Move-In and Set-Up.”
