New Ownership, New Format, New Ideas for SURTEX Ahead, Reports GLM VP/Show Manager

Editor note:

January may be named for the two-faced Roman god Janus, who looked both backward and forward. We’re changing that: from now on, it’s all eyes on the road ahead!

It’s a New Year, a new beginning. Happens every January, of course, but this year – 2012 – is different: there’s new ownership of GLM, and they’ve brought new energy and ideas that will take SURTEX in interesting new directions…

…Beginning with this On the Surface on-line newsletter. We’ve been reaching you once every month, bringing news and previews about SURTEX and its events. Watch for us twice a month beginning in March! You’ll be getting twice as much information twice as fast. The world has speeded up, and we’re keeping pace!

I myself will be traveling at jet-speed, quite literally, during much of this month. In January, the entire business world’s calendar is crowded with important trade shows. So I’m off to Europe first, then back again for markets in the US West and, finally, to the New York International Gift Fair (NYIGF) at the end of this month.

But it’s not like the old “if-this-is-Tuesday-this-must-be-Belgium” cliché. I’m out there on the road on your behalf, always on the lookout for new ways to enhance SURTEX …for new ideas to bring home that will benefit the art and design communities and make your businesses more successful and rewarding.

So here’s wishing you a Happy New Year that’s also more productive and effective. And keep your eyes on the road ahead: there are more innovations to come as we count down to SURTEX 2012.
