Three Day Education Series Provides Fast-Track Curriculum for Art & Design Business Professionals
White Plains, NY, May 5, 2014 – SURTEX®, in its 28th year, announces its 2014 Conference Program line-up, produced for the design community. This year’s program, titled, “Distinct Business Strategies from a Creative Perspective: Intelligence for Manufacturers, Designers and Retailers” will take place during SURTEX May 18-20 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City.
The SURTEX conference program, known as the leading source for business information and trends impacting the art and design industry, will offer 12 sessions comprised in three distinct tracks. Both, newcomers and veterans will benefit from each 90-minute session full of invaluable information. Moreover, attendees will have the advantage of networking and connecting with speakers as well as industry colleagues.
“Conference session attendees at any stage or in any design profession –newcomers or veterans, manufactures or retailers—will benefit from this program,” says Penny Sikalis, SURTEX Vice President. “Market participants will have the opportunity to learn the fundamentals, enhance their skills and get the latest information on relevant business topics from seasoned industry gurus.”
The conference program will open on Sunday, May 18 with Track One, “Basics: Monetizing Your Creativity”. Topics will include the basics of art licensing, how selling outright works, the ins and outs of engaging an agent, plus an in-depth view of the licensing contract and will be led by SURTEX vice president, Penny Sikalis.
Day Two’s Track, led by Janet Racy, president of Janet Racy & Company, on Monday, May 19, is titled, “Deep Dive: Legal and Product Intel”. This content will dive deeper into specific product categories: Textiles & Home Fashion, Paper & Stationery and Tabletop, Gift & Home Décor. Legal sessions will also be included, covering copyrights and protection of artwork.
The final track on Tuesday, May 20, “High Level: Strategies for Business Growth” will be of interest to a broad audience, addressing topics such as, keys to successful branding, using global trends most effectively and expansion through strategic initiatives and will be led by Jennifer Castoldi, CEO & chief director of Trendease International.
