March 25, 2013- San Francisco based designer, Carol Van Zandt, returns to SURTEX 2013 for a third year with new collections in clean modern themes for winter, holiday and coastal. New every day collections include Patty-O which Van Zandt describes as "contemporary and fun with a retro feel" while Sugar Pop is "urban candy shop". World Beat 2013 includes her signature geometrics and pop flowers.
Since SURTEX 2012, Van Zandt has seen the release of her second fabric collection, Licorice Fizz, through Andover Fabrics Inc. of New York. She also has signed new licenses for kitchen textiles, stationary, giftwrap, and skins, among others. Carol Van Zandt will be speaking on the SURTEX conference program panel "An In-Depth Look at Art Licensing Basics" on Sunday May 19 11:00AM.
Van Zandt's designs and collections are licensable for any product including home décor and gifts, stationary, paper products, accessories, consumer products, and are geared towards companies looking for fresh, original contemporary design.
With a twenty year background in fine art, and professionally trained in both the U.S. and Asia, Carol holds a BA in Studio Art from Boston College and has further studied at Massachusetts College of Art and Rhode Island School of Design. She spent ten years studying Japanese calligraphy and sumi-painting, and three years studying textile and surface design at The Institute for Textile Print Design. Her fine art paintings are in private collections in over 15 countries in Europe, Asia and America.
