SURTEX® 2014 EXPERIENCES 5 PERCENT INCREASE IN ATTENDANCE
– Key Buyers Discover New Art for Upcoming Product Lines

WHITE PLAINS, NY, July 22, 2014 – SURTEX®, the largest annual gathering of art for sale or licensing, announced today that attendance from the past show in May jumped five percent, representing a healthy gain in manufacturers and major retailers looking to capitalize on the diverse and trend-forward surface designs found on the SURTEX show floor. Drawing the larger crowd was 270 exhibitors representing more than 1,000 artists, a dynamic conference program, industry networking events, and the unveiling of the designext® Grand Prize Winner.

“We are extremely pleased with the growth and energy of SURTEX 2014, and the momentum it has given us moving forward,” said Liz Crawford, vice president and SURTEX show director.  “As a newcomer to the SURTEX management team, it’s clear that this event attracts the best and brightest in the industry and is on track for continued success.”

A post-show survey of attendees revealed the true success of SURTEX 2014, with an overwhelming 89 percent discovering new art and design for upcoming product lines, and 61 percent indicating that seeing original designs at this show is the most influential format for making purchasing or licensing decisions. A similar survey conducted of exhibitors revealed that orders written at SURTEX 2014 account for nearly 20 percent of their annual order volume, and more than half of exhibitors see this show as their best return on investment among all marketing options.

Planning for SURTEX 2015 is well underway, including a new floor plan that positions SURTEX more centrally on Level 3 of the Javits Center, development of the conference program, and a marketing strategy that supports the continued growth of this market. The global surface design community can stay up-to-date with SURTEX 2015 plans through the show’s On the Surface enewsletter, which can be subscribed to at surtex.com.
